I hear we are supposed to get snow later today/tonight. I know one thing I love on a cold and snowy day is HOT CHOCOLATE! Here's how to satisfy that craving in a healthy way.... Hot HOT Chocolate: 2 cups your favorite milk (I like almond milk) 1.5 Tbs 100% Cocoa Powder (organic/raw preferred) 1/4 C chopped dark chocolate (>75% cocoa preferred) 1 Cinnamon Stick (optional) Pinch of Sea Salt (optional) Pinch of Cayenne Pepper (optional) Heat milk to a low simmer, whisk in cocoa powder, add cinnamon stick, cayenne and salt, let simmer for two minutes, then add chopped chocolate and whisk until all dissolved. *You can always add extra of any ingredient to desired flavor/richness. I also like to mix in some coffee at the end to make it a mocha! Benefits of Cocoa: - rich in minerals such as iron, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, copper and manganese. - anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic and antioxidant qualities - can help manage high cholesterol, diabetes, asthma, constipation - improves mood - MUCH MORE!
